The categories are:

  • Junior Lawyer of the Year
  • Legal Team of the Year
  • Legal Professional of the Year
  • Excellence in Training Award
  • Significant Contribution to Local Government
  • Suki Binjal Rising Star Award

LLG said: “Each year, the LLG Awards highlight those individuals and teams whose work strengthens local authorities, supports communities, and upholds the highest standards of public service. The awards shine a light on excellence in practice, innovation in service delivery, and the unwavering commitment that defines the local government legal profession.”

To find out more about the full criteria and to apply, go to the LLG website here. LLG said it has introduced “an improved and more accessible nomination process. The updated format includes a simplified form and a convenient file‑upload function, designed to make submitting nominations smoother and more user‑friendly.”

Applications close on 27 March 2026. LLG’s Spring Conference will be held in Birmingham and online on 5 June and online on 12 June.

President Paul Turner said "The LLG Awards Ceremony on Spring Conference day is one of the highlights of the LLG calendar. Here's your opportunity to nominate individuals and teams who are the brightest stars in the LLG sky. There are six categories - so you're sure to find the right one - whether it's for the dream legal team or the completely brilliant unsung lawyer you work with. We can't give people awards without nominations so please get nominating."

The Commercial Property Team at City of Wolverhampton Council was named ‘Legal Team of the Year’ in the LLG Awards 2025.
