Bristol to select new monitoring officer

Members at Bristol will vote on appointing Hewitt on Tuesday (14 July). If approved, he will join the local authority from October this year.

Councillors will also be asked to confirm the designation of Nancy Rollason as Monitoring Officer to cover the period 3 August 2026 to 14 October 2026.

Hewitt will join the authority from Bath and North East Somerset Council, where he has been Head of Legal and Democratic Services and Monitoring Officer since February 2024.

He will take over from Tim O'Gara, who recently became monitoring officer at BCP Council.

Rollason - who will cover as monitoring officer in the intervening period - has been employed by the city council for three decades, having joined in April 1996. She is currently Head of Service and Deputy Monitoring Officer.
