LLG calls for applications for positions of Deputy Vice-President, Regional Director for Wales and Junior National Lead
LLG (Lawyers in Local Government) is inviting applications for the positions of Deputy Vice-President, with the successful candidate set to assume the presidency of the organisation in 2028.
LLG is also seeking applicants for the roles of Regional Director for Wales and Junior National Lead.
On the position of Deputy Vice President, LLG said: “If you have the strategic vision to lead the company at pace whilst applying creative vision to the provision of membership services; this role will provide a stimulating, rewarding and career enhancing opportunity placing you in direct contact with key stakeholders and corporate partners.”
It added: “LLG has been extremely successful in the last few years, operating under a position of leadership within the sector. As a result, those seeking nomination should be clear that they are capable of representing the sector in meetings and workstreams on local government law and governance.
"This includes meetings with government ministers and civil servants; stakeholders at the top level including the LGA, Law Society, SRA, Ombudsman, SOLACE, CIPFA, ADSO, NALC and SLCC; the press (including trade press, national press & radio) and leading local government officers and members.”
The Deputy Vice President role will commence from the AGM on 29 April 2026 with the successful candidate automatically appointed as Vice President in 2027 and LLG President in 2028.
The Regional Director for Wales meanwhile entails, amongst other things, being the face and ambassador of LLG for Wales, setting a strategy to grow and enable the LLG Welsh members, and ensuring that the Welsh perspective is embedded into LLG work streams.
Candidates for the Regional Director for Wales position must live or work within Wales and have knowledge of Welsh law to be eligible to apply.
Appointment is by way of majority Welsh membership vote.
The role of Junior National Lead meanwhile includes representing the voice of junior lawyers, namely those with under five years’ PQE or pre-qualification.
The Junior National Lead will automatically become the Junior Director on the board of LLG from the AGM in 2028 for a two-year term.
The closing date for the three roles is 12 February 2026. Elections will run from 2 March to 16 March 2026. LLG’s AGM will take place on 29 April.
