Outer Temple Chambers silk named High Court judge, assigned to Family Division

John McKendrick KC has been appointed as a judge of the High Court, assigned to the Family Division.
McKendrick, a tenant at Outer Temple Chambers, was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1999 and took Silk in 2016.
He was appointed as a Convener of the Additional Support Needs Tribunals for Scotland in 2010.
He was also appointed as a Recorder in 2022 and as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2023.
McKendrick’s high-profile cases include representing the hospital trusts in Bell v Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust [2021] EWCA Civ 1361 and representing the Official Solicitor in a case concerning capacity before the Supreme Court in A Local Authority v JB [2021] UKSC 52.
He will take up appointment on 10 March 2025.
