West of England Combined Authority hires Daya as Director of Legal Services

Shahzia Daya has joined the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) as Director of Legal Services from Bristol City Council.
Daya, a highly-experienced local government solicitor and monitoring officer, said: “I have been privileged to serve the region for over 25 years, so I’m familiar with the challenges and opportunities the combined authority needs to embrace in order to deliver for the West of England.
“I am really looking forward to being part of the team at WECA and creating a better place for people to live, work, study and visit.”
Daya took up the role on 13 August.
WECA has also hired Malcolm Coe from North Somerset Council as Director of Investment and Corporate Services.
Chief executive of WECA and the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, Patricia Greer, said: “We have a strong team with the right mix of skills and expertise to deliver our vision to drive economic growth for all, including knowledge and experience within the region.”
