Cheshire East appoints Mike Jones as Monitoring Officer
- Details
Mike Jones has been appointed as Director of Law and Governance (Monitoring Officer) at Cheshire East Council.
He takes over from Kevin O'Keefe, who was serving as Interim Director of Law & Governance and Monitoring Officer at the local authority.
Full council unanimously approved his appointment at a meeting last week.
Jones has previously held roles at Liverpool and Sandwell.
The council report recommending his appointment described Jones as having a “strong personal connection to the area”, having been born in the county.
The report added: “Throughout his career, he has been drawn to organisations undergoing significant change, developing a strong track record of strengthening governance, driving improvement, and supporting people through periods of transformation.
“His experience reflects a commitment to creating sustainable organisational change that delivers better outcomes for residents, staff, and stakeholders.”
It also said his strategic leadership credentials were demonstrated through “significant transformation programmes, including work supporting the Liverpool intervention and redesigning SEND transport services, delivering both structural reform and cultural change”.
