Crown Commercial Service notifies costs lawyers of upcoming £50m framework

A prior information notice states that the service is seeking to establish a “simple and compliant multi-supplier framework agreement” for the provision of costs lawyer services for central government and the UK public sector.

The successful bidders will be responsible for:

• Costs consultancy and negotiation
• Cost estimates and statement of costs
• Advocacy and/or attending hearings
• Instructing counsel
• Providing advice
• Preparing costs budgets, bills of costs, points of dispute, replies and court forms

The service said it aims to hold market engagement sessions with those interested in bidding in Spring of this year.

It is expected that the contract notice will be published in late November 2022.

The Government last established a costs lawyers services framework in 2019, at an estimated cost of £64 million.
