Leeds appoints Pinsents to advise on major infrastructure and housing development

The law firm will advise the council on the East Leeds Extension (ELE) and the East Leeds Orbital Route.

The contract is set to last for two years. It began on 13 January 2022 and is scheduled to end on 4 January 2024.

The new orbital route, which is due to open fully in May 2022, runs along land earmarked for the ELE and will link to the city's existing outer ring road.

According to the council, the ELE will deliver up to 5,000 new homes and supporting infrastructure and will play a major role in delivering the housing needed to meet the authority's Local Plan requirements for 52,000 new homes across the city by 2033.
