Law firm Capsticks has hired two partners and a senior associate specialising in public sector projects, contracts and procurement for the launch of a new office in Exeter.

Lucy Woods and Ruth Yates will join the firm as partners, while Katie Gwyther has been recruited as a senior associate.

All three hires previously worked at Ashfords.

Capsticks said the new local government focussed team would join its Corporate and Commercial division.

The Exeter office is the firm's sixth after Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester and Winchester.

Rachael Heenan, Senior Partner at Capsticks, said: "We have always been ambitious to grow our offering to Local Government organisations and to create even more opportunities for career development at Capsticks.

"We're really looking forward to bringing Lucy, Ruth and Katie into the team and providing opportunities for people to work with and learn from them."

Tiffany Cloynes, Head of Local Government at Capsticks, meanwhile said: "Welcoming Lucy and team to our Corporate & Commercial team provides us with additional expertise and knowledge when supporting our existing and future clients with their complex matters, ensuring we are go-to advisors for Local Government organisations."
