Clarke named General Counsel at Transport for London on permanent basis

Andrea Clarke has been appointed as Transport for London (TfL’s) General Counsel on a permanent basis.

Clarke was appointed interim General Counsel in September last year following the retirement of Howard Carter.

TfL said she will “bring her experience to the role of General Counsel, providing legal, governance, secretariat, risk management, audit, and assurance services to support TfL as it works to deliver its business priorities and the Mayor’s Transport Strategy. She will now consider the process for putting in place permanent arrangements within her team.”

Andrea Clarke, TfL’s General Counsel, said: “I’m delighted to be taking the role of TfL’s General Counsel on a permanent basis. The work that our General Counsel covers on a daily basis is extremely broad and varied, and I look forward to ensuring we support TfL and the wider GLA Group so it can continue to deliver for London."

Andy Lord, London's Transport Commissioner, said: "Andrea has been a central figure in TfL's legal team since its creation in 2000 and brings enormous experience and energy to the role. Congratulations on securing this vital role for London."
