Property Law Nuts and Bolts webinar series - Forfeiture - Landmark Chambers

Landmark Chambers’ popular Property Law Nuts and Bolts series is back, with Part 4 taking place on Tuesday 17 March 2026 from 5pm – 6.30pm, focusing on forfeiture.

When tenants breach the covenants in their leases, landlords often prefer to avoid spending large amounts of time, effort and money into pursuing claims for damages or specific performance. Instead, their go-to is typically to rely on the right of re-entry or, more commonly, forfeiture. It is without a doubt one of the most powerful tools in a landlord’s arsenal. But it is a tricky area of law. Litigators are often plagued with questions from clients about whether the landlord has the right to forfeit, whether that right has been waived(either by action or inaction), or whether the tenant is likely to obtain relief from forfeiture.

In this session, Kate, Ashley and Louise will take you on a whistle-stop tour of the essentials of practice, procedure and tips and tricks to help you avoid common pitfalls.

These webinars are designed to introduce key topics that are likely to crop up in a property litigator’s everyday practice. The talks will provide an overview of the legal and procedural landscape, with time for questions at the end.
